This exceptional musician and traveler from Barcelona brings to the Czech music scene his deeply personal and hypnotic sound, blending elements of downtempo, soul, reggae, and dub. After years of traveling through Latin America and Africa, where he drew inspiration and connected with local musicians, Alex has created a unique musical universe that opens the door to the “Real World” – a realm beyond the senses where music heals, connects, and awakens.

Alex Serra is a musician and explorer from the Mediterranean city of Barcelona. His debut album, In the Real World(2019), was born from an inspiring four-year journey of self-discovery that began in 2012 and took him from Latin America to South Africa. There, he met musicians from diverse musical backgrounds whose influence permeates his work, giving it a distinctive and rejuvenating energy.

In 2014, Alex landed in Cape Town, South Africa, where he met musician Yannick Meyer. They formed a deep brotherly bond and created a psychedelic African pop project called Native Young, joining forces with a marimba band from the townships of Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, and Philippi. This rich cultural and musical experience profoundly changed his life and inspired him to explore his own musical universe upon returning home in 2016.

Back in Barcelona, Alex connected with Totidub (Toti Arimany), an outstanding dub producer who became a key contributor in shaping the sonic landscape of the album. Together, they crafted a collection of tracks that touch on various genres – downtempo, soul, reggae, dub – evoking a state of inner listening in the audience. The lyrics point toward the “Real World,” a place beyond the limits of our senses, where space and time cease to exist as we know them.
